Dermalogica Pre Cleanse Oil Review

Dermalogica Pre Cleanser Oil Review - Cosmetic Composition

A good oil cleanser is the foundation of any good skin care routine. The Dermalogica Pre Cleanse Oil is hands down one of the best oil cleansers I’ve ever used – literally top 3. The biggest drawback being – $45 for 5.1 oz. which in my book makes this a splurge product. I received my Pre Cleanse in my product kit from esthetician school so I was able to forgo the $45 price. However, if you’re ever in the position to spend $8.82 per oz. on a cleanser, I’d HIGHLY recommend this product.

My life has been very hectic the past month and I’m here to admit that I’ve been skipping the double cleanse (insert cringe emoji here). This oil cleanser has been doing its job fabulously enough that a second cleanse hardly crossed my mind. Just one pump into your hands, massage into the skin and add water to emulsify and wash off. This product emulsifies so smoothly while removing oil, makeup, and dirt – without any leftover residue or squeaky feeling. The texture is light yet workable so it won’t run all over your fingers before you can get the oil on your face.

Ingredients – Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, PEG-40 Sorbitan Peroleate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Oil, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Extract, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Aleurites Moluccana Seed Oil, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Citral, Limonene, Linalool

The Pre Cleanse Oil ingredients are a blend of caprylic/capric triglycerides and plant oils with apricot and sunflower oil being in highest concentrations. To review – caprylic/capric triglycerides is an emollient, dispersing agent, and solvent that is derived from coconut oil. Caprylic/capric triglyceride is an extremely common ingredient base in oil cleansers due to its working properties.

The cleanser has a touch of a scent, not very specific but the lavender notes do stick out the most. My skin typically purges anytime I use a new product and yet this one has never been irritating or caused breakouts. In fact, it’s done the absolute opposite and calms and clears my skin after each use.

Have you ever tried Dermalogic’s Pre Cleanse?? I’d love to hear everyone’s experiences and thoughts!
