Dermalogica’s Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque Review

Dermalogica's Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque Review.jpg

Dermalogica is the product line that my esthetics program uses so I’ve become quite familiar with most of their products. The AGESmart line is a group of products targeted towards mature skin to help with aging and is marketed as a super concentration of antioxidants. So one of the products we use for an AGE Smart facial is the Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque – it’s golden yellow, smells like paint, and turns out to be my hack spot treatment product.

Anytime someone started to get a breakout or ingrown hair from waxing my esthetics teacher would tell them to immediately use the multivitamin power recovery masque as a spot treatment. I had forgotten about this until last month when I found myself spot-treatment-less with a huge breakout on its way. Since then I’ve been dabbing on a very small amount of this masque after my moisturizer (before any heavier oils or sleeping masks). This Dermalogica mask has literally become my golden elixir for stopping breakouts in their track – it even helped with my hormonal breakouts.

After reviewing the ingredient list I’m not quite sure why it helps with my breakouts so quickly but I believe it’s the combination of Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Retinyl Palmitate, Lactic Acid, and Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract. But to be honest I didn’t feel like putting in hours of research to figure out the exact reason it treats my breakouts and I’m fine with accepting this guess.

Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract, Arginine/Lysine Polypeptide, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Phospholipids, Retinyl Palmitate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Linoleic Acid, Beta-Carotene, Lactic Acid, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Hydrogenated Olive Oil, Dimethicone, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Symphytum Officinale Root Extract, Arctium Majus Root Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Sodium PCA, Allantoin Decylene Glycol, Menthoxypropanediol, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Sodium Polyacrylate, Ammonium Glycyrrhizate, PPG-15 Stearyl Ether Benzoate, Polysorbate 20, Propylene Glycol, Carbomer, Schlerotium Gum, Disodium EDTA, Aminomethyl Propanol, Phenoxyethanol, Annatto (CI 75120)

Fun Fact: the last ingredient listed is a colorant – annatto. Annatto is derived from achiote trees and is the same ingredient that gives cheddar cheese it’s color!

Do you have any hack spot treatment products? I’d love to learn about everyone’s tips and tricks for treating breakouts head on!
