I’ve tried many a sheet mask in my time, however, after catching the Korean skin care bug, I decided it was time to try out a Korean skin care brand. Enter: Tony Moly, one of the most popular, and cutest, Korean brands out there.
I ordered an 11 pack of the I’m Real sheet masks off of Amazon for $10, which at 2 masks a week lasted me quite a while. Upon receiving the package I was giddy over the adorable packaging of each mask and was eager to try them all out. I recently finished the 11 masks and decided it was time to do a review.
I found the Tony Moly sheet masks extremely relaxing, hydrating, tightening, and just overall great. Each mask had a different benefit, such as brightening, hydrating, pore cleansing, radiance, etc. The benefit of each mask is linked to some kind of food, which makes the marketing potential for this product insanely easy. The 11 masks included: vitality, elasticity, clear skin, nutrition, brightening, moisturizing, skin purifying (X 2), radiance, skin soothing, and pore care. I would like to note that while each mask had a certain benefit it felt as if each mask acted the same, possibly due to the low concentration of the “benefit” ingredient. After enjoying each one I could not and still cannot pick out a favorite. They all are great sheet masks, each with a unique smell and/or benefit, I’m definitely ordering again.
Being the beauty science nerd that I am, I wanted to look at the ingredients. There are three types of essence used in the 11 sheet masks: water type, emulsion type, and milky-liquid type. The sheet masks are made from rayon and are considered pulp masks because the rayon is coated with the essences on each side (picture it as a sandwich). I had difficulty tracking down any ingredient lists online, so I grossly dug up an empty mask package out of the trash to read the label.
ingredients: I’m Real Aloe Mask Sheet – Moisturizing
Water, Butylene Glycol, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Glycereth-26, Panthenol, Bis-Ethoxydiglycol, Succinate, Allantoin, PEG-60, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol, Tromethamine, Aloe Barbadensis, Caprylyl Glycol, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Phyllostachis Bambusoides Juice, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance
Fairly standard ingredients as far as I’m concerned. This particular face mask was very moisturizing and had a ton of extra essence included, which only made it work better. I had no irritation with any of the masks after use (I masked for 30 minutes at a time). Overall review? I have and would 100% recommend these masks to anyone looking for a relaxing and non-messy mask.
What’s your favorite sheet mask? Have you ever tried one of the I’m Real masks? I’d love to hear any experiences, questions or comments below!
